    Glen Oaks Branch Library construction is nearing completion and has been in the news in two recent articles. “It will be the newest and the brightest” in Queens, said Queens Library President Thomas Galante. See full NY Daily News article here.

    Scott Marble has received an Outstanding Alumni Award from the College of Architecture at Texas A&M University for excellence in professional leadership. The award, which recognizes less than one percent of the college’s 14,000 plus former students, is the highest honor bestowed by the college to its alumni.

  • April 3, 2012 » Symposium: Digital Provocations at University of Minnesota

    Scott Marble will be participating in the Digital Provocations symposium organized by the School of Architecture at University of Minnesota College of Design. Digital Provocations is scheduled for April 12-14, 2012 and seeks to explore innovative responses by both practice and academia to how the use of digital technology has evolved in design, collaboration, fabrication and construction processes. Scott will be on the Information & Industry and Ecology & Integrated Design panels, and will be a participant in the Concluding Discussion of the symposium.

    On February 25th, Marble Fairbanks opened their new office in DUMBO for the new Open House New York series, openstudios.  Over 150 visitors and colleagues toured the studios for this kickoff event.

    Karen Fairbanks will be presenting Flatform at the Total Enthusiasm 02: Inside Pre-Fab event hosted by the Storefront for Art and Architecture on February 3, 2012. This is a book launch for the release of Inside Prefab: The Ready-made Interior and will last from 7-9pm. The event will explore the evolution of prefabricated interiors from a production of ‘standardized serialism’ to that of ‘endless variations’.

    Marble Fairbanks has been selected to design the renovations for the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Located in Harlem, the Schomburg Center is part of the New York Public Library and is a leading institution devoted to documenting the history and culture of peoples of African descent worldwide. The renovations will span three interconnected buildings and will also include a redesign of the streetscape along Malcom X Boulevard. The project is part of the Design Excellence program administered by New York City’s Department of Design and Construction.

    Bootstrapping – Marble Fairbanks published by the University of Michigan was released May 2006. This book includes a comprehensive review of the Chicago Public School project, the Fashion Institute of  Technology competition project, and the competition entry for the Kansai National Diet Library, as well as other work by Marble Fairbanks, an interview with Reinhold Martin, and an essay by Michael Bell. This book was published on the occasion of Marble Fairbanks’s Charles and Ray Eames lecture at the University of Michigan in January, 2004. Buy it.
