The Toni Stabile Student Center at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism has won a 2009 Annual Design Review Award from Architect Magazine, which recognizes “the best American architecture of the year.” The student center won the top award in the “Grow” category for Educational, Science, and Healthcare projects.

The Toni Stabile Student Center for the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University, a project designed by Marble Fairbanks, is included in the “New York Now” exhibit displayed in the West 4th Street Subway Station.  The show is up for the month of October.

Ceiling Cloud, a parametric ceiling system, designed as part of a design studio and research seminar at University of Houston taught by Scott Marble, Andrew Vrana and Joe Meppelink (both of METALAB) won first prize in the AA|FAB Awards.

Scott Marble will give the keynote lecture at TEX-FAB, a consortium of schools in Texas interested in exchanging ideas about digital fabrication.  The event will be held on February 4, 2010 at the Dallas Architecture Forum.

8/1/09 » New Project: Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture

Marble Fairbanks has been selected to design the renovations for the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Located in Harlem, the Schomburg Center is part of the New York Public Library and is a leading institution devoted to documenting the history and culture of peoples of African descent worldwide. The renovations will span three interconnected buildings and will also include a redesign of the streetscape along Malcom X Boulevard. The project is part of the Design Excellence program administered by New York City’s Department of Design and Construction.
